What to buy? Power steering from original

I just bought a chevy bel air 2dr 1955 and whants to upgrade it to power steering.
i wonder if i shall buy a new steering column at the same time.

Which parts do I need to have it complete?

I am looking at buying the 5557PSU-K, i read the instructions, and they are not clear as to modification of my origanal colomn, can i cut mine and adapt it to the new PSU-K with a part that i can buy
