Hello there. I purchased a CPP steering column, installed it and found too much play in the steering wheel. I made sure that the universals are completely free from any play.
After close examination I found that when turning the steering wheel side to side (about 1"), the bottom DD shaft was not moving in relation to the steering wheel. Therefore the looseness is coming from the area of the tilt knuckle universal. In order to operate as smooth as the CPP steering column does there must be either bearings or bushings in the area of the tilt knuckle.
My question is: how can I tighten the pre-load on this bearing or bushing? Is there an adjusting nut?
Thanks.
