American Powertrain has introduced the new E-body ProFit 5-speed Kit, which features the company’s new ProShift3 shifter mechanism and all the parts needed to convert a Challenger or Barracuda to a TKO five-speed. The ProShift3 fits the original 4-speed shift position in any 1970–1974 Challenger or Barracuda and has an all-new shift mechanism that’s specially isolated to reduce NVH in the cabin. It’s assembled to the gearbox prior to installation for easy bolt-up, said the company.
The E-body ProFit kit includes a new E-body prepped Tremec TKO with a ProShift3, a powdercoated bolt-in crossmember, polyurethane mount, seamless DOM driveshaft, a choice of mechanical or electronic speedometer solution, and a special pilot bearing that works in both four-speed and automatic cranks.
The kit also includes a weatherseal reverse light harness and a custom bearing for use with a OEM clutch fork. Complete hardware and instructions, as well as a five-speed pistol grip topper, are also included in the kit.
