• 1969 Chevrolet COPO Corvette L88 Race Car The Only COPO L88 Known to Exist

For almost five decades the Holy Grail of Corvettes has remained the awe-inspiring L88, purpose-built for competition and endowed with a 560-horsepower 427 that made it the scourge of both domestic and international GT racing from Sebring to Le Mans. One of 116 built in the final year of L88 production, this exceptionally well-documented 1969 L88 convertible is the only COPO version known to exist by virtue of its special-order Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed transmission documented by the included tank sticker, which also lists its transistor ignition, 4.56 Positraction rear end, side exhaust, F41 suspension and a Black vinyl-covered auxiliary hard top. It was originally owned by Rick Thompkins and ran several racing seasons at venues including Sebring and Daytona and has been restored to as-raced configuration including the original racing livery. In 2009 it was part of the Bloomington Gold Special Collection and the Race Car Reunion at Carlisle; it was also displayed at the National Corvette Museum.
