Allentown, Pa.-based Continental Commercial Vehicles and Aftermarket, a manufacturer and supplier of VDO OE-engineered instrumentation and replacement parts for the custom car and truck market, has launched a free smartphone application for its VDO instrument line.
Dubbed Gauges2Go, the new VDO app allows enthusiasts to view VDO gauges in virtual simulation as if the product was mounted on their dashboards. It includes a fully functional GPS speedometer, so any mobile device or tablet with the application is able to produce an authentic-looking dashboard, according to Continental Commercial Vehicles and Aftermarket.
The dashboard is customizable and can display any of the current VDO gauge lines, which allows users to toggle between displays and pick the instrument look they like best. Users can change the gauge’s illumination, bezel type and style.
“We are very excited about this revolutionary app and the real advantages it will give our customers in selecting the ideal instrumentation for their needs and making the best buying decision,” said Matt Lacko, VDO product manager. “We are also currently developing a dongle for the OBD II port, which will expand the capability of the app and allow the user to access generic OBD II information from the vehicle. This will enable the water temperature, tachometer and voltmeter gauges to work functionally with the vehicle.”
In addition to the dashboard simulation, the VDO Gauges2Go app provides a direct link to the entire VDO Instrument online catalog and offers easy access to a dealer locator.
The new VDO app is available from iTunes for use on all iOS smart devices and Google Play for Android.
