• CELEBRATING 75-YEARS OF ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE HISTORY

HERSHEY, PA, May 6, 2010 - A different kind of horsepower will be celebrated in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the Kentucky Derby, when the Antique Automobile Club of America comes to Louisville to commemorate its 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary, June 30 - July 3, 2010. A world-class array of automotive history represented by over 600 cars from the years 1835 through 1985 will be on display. Such rare gems as the 1909 Sears, 1916 Milburn and 1929 Essex will be among them.

This unique event is hosted by the AACA Kyana Region and The Antique Automobile Club of America.

The four day celebration will be both a touring and show event. Tours are planned for part of the week including a Bluegrass Tour through Lexington, KY featuring Kentucky Horse Park and Historic Bardstown; French Lick, Indiana’s West Baden Springs Hotel/Casino; the Patton Museum and Swope Car Museum in Elizabethtown, KY; and Churchill Downs’ Museum and Race track in Louisville, KY.

On the last day, there will be a grand car show that is both judged and non-judged. The car show will be held indoors at the Kentucky Expo Center’s beautiful climate-controlled facility. There will be several planned and optional activities for attendees with a special, commemorative gift presented to all registered participants. The event will culminate with what promises to be a most memorable, Anniversary Awards Reception on Saturday afternoon at the Expo Center.

Members and enthusiasts are encouraged to register their vehicles and prep their cars for the Diamond Jubilee. The planning committee would like to see a vehicle for every year of car production, vehicles in every AACA class, unique milestone cars, and special interest autos. The event brochure, registration guidelines, and more detailed event information are available online at www.aaca75.org or http://www.aaca.org/meets/brochures/...h_brochure.pdf .

The AACA would like to extend and welcome the invitation to the 75th Anniversary Celebration to all media outlets that would be interested in covering this unique event. Please contact AACA National headquarters if interested in attending this event so appropriate arrangements can be made. The AACA will gladly work with any special needs to provide those interested with press passes. Accommodation requests or any other special requirement inquiries are welcome.

“It seems appropriate for us to celebrate; we have come a long way since our beginning. AACA was founded on November 4, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when fourteen men (and the wife of one) gathered in the auditorium of the Automobile Club of Philadelphia to start a club that now has membership near 60,000 and maintains the greatest activities, programs and benefits of any other antique automobile club in the hobby,” said Joe Gagliano, AACA 75th Anniversary Co-Chairman and AACA Board Member. In fact, AACA has been supporting antique automobile enthusiasts since before many of today’s automotive brands even existed.

The AACA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, has served as the country’s premier resource for the collectible vehicle community since its formation in 1935. Through its national office, publications, online forums, Library, Museum and membership, the Club has assisted countless individuals, historians and collectors, along with other libraries and museums, in the quest to preserve and enjoy the antique automobile experience.
