• 1966 Ford Mustang

The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9, 1964, and was introduced to the public at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964, then via all three American television networks on April 19 and in a final big splash, made an appearance in the James Bond film Goldfinger in September of 1964. The multi-faceted marketing thrust combined with popular appeal for such a car resulted one of the most successful product launches in automotive history.

By its creation, it created a new "pony car" class of cars by adapting the look of sports cars to what were really compact sedans. Compared to it's platform-mate, the Falcon, Mustang featured a lower seating position and overall height. The GT model could be equipped with the optional $443 high-performance 289ci V-8 that was rated at 271hp and weighed about 3,000 pounds with its "mandatory optional" four–speed.

Featuring numerous modifications, this highly-customized 1966 Ford Mustang is powered by a Ford Racing Short Block displacing 347 cubic-inches with a stroker crank, AFR Heads and a Nitrous Express 100 Shot bottle with a 75 shot Nozzle. This package puts nearly 500 horsepower to the wheels when the Nitrous system is used. The engine is topped off by a Edelbrock Polished Intake Manifold with a custom Dual Ram Air System and a Retrotek Polished Throttle Body Fuel Injection System. Additional modifications include an MSD 6AL ignition box, March's Serpentine Reverse Rotation pulley kit with billet brackets and a late model steering pump. The engine breathes through custom dual exhausts fed by JBA Ceramic Coated Shorty Headers with Flowmaster Mufflers and is kept cool by an Autoworks Aluminum Cross Flow Radiator Kit with a Custom Radiator Cover. Much custom metal work has been done under the hood. Behind this custom-built masterpiece, a Tremec 3550 5-Speed Manual Transmission puts the power to the wheels through a 3.50:1 geared 9" Ford posi-traction rear end. A hydraulically-controlled King Cobra Dual Friction Clutch prevents slippage under all conditions.

Underneath the Mustang, full subframe connectors and a TCP Billet Tower Brace Kit are far and away an improvement over the original underpinnings; a Total Control Power Steering Rack, Total Control Front Coil Over Kit with Tubular Control Arms, a Total Control Rear Coil Over Kit with Watts Linkage, Trailing Arms and Horizontally Mounted inboard Coil-Overs round out the rest of the improvements. A JMC dual master cylinder feeds 4-Piston CNC Front Disc Brake calipers with 4-Piston CNC discs in the rear. It rides on American Racing Torq-Thrust II mag wheels, 17"x7" in the front wrapped in 225/45/17 high-performance BF Goodrich rubber, while in the rear, 17"x8" rims on a custom offset wear the same BFGs in 245/45/17.

The interior is festooned with amenities that include power windows and door locks, power trunk release, custom high-back seats with power lumbar supports, Mustang LED-lit sill plates, Mercedes feintuft carpeting and perforated leather, Suede Headliner and Accents, Vintage Air's deluxe air conditioning and heat, billet rocker switches, Autometer Phantom Series white faced gauges with tachometer, a center console with cup holders, 3-point harness-style seatbelts and billet clutch, brake and accelerator pedals. The car's entertainment package includes a Pioneer MOSFET Head Unit with Infiniti 2-way front speakers, a Pioneer CD Changer and two Alpine Type-E subwoofers.
