Mainstream hot rods today, most of the Advance Design pickups were ridden hard and put away wet, and their 60 year chassis show it. We offer a safe, strong, and good looking chassis built to Chevy’s original specs that will accept original and aftermarket sheetmetal. If you prefer the design of the deeper, flat-top 1954 pick up box, the 1954 truck chassis we also make will accommodate this with early front-end sheetmetal.
Our recommended front suspension is a Heidts or TCI Mustang II IFS. A traditional axle front end, Kugel Komponents IFS or Heidts Superide IFS is also available. In the rear, we recommend parallel leaf springs which we feel provide superior ride quality for these heavy trucks, especially if you intend to put a few rod-run supplies in the back. We use a custom made spring pack which lowers the rear of the car and provides a nice hot-rod rake when combined with the IFS. To further lower the rear another 2”, we can mount these springs inboard of the frame, rather than under. A triangulated or parallel 4-bar is also an option. Be sure to let us know if you want to place your rear axle in the stock location or move it back 2” to better center the wheels in the fenders.
We also manufacture front cab mounts, rear cab shackles, and a complete set of running board brackets that will complete the new look under your truck.
