54 Ford F100 Brake Pedal does not line up with Master Cylinder??

Brakes 54 Ford F100
Bought a disc brake kit for front, everything went realativley well on the installation.
Went to install new master cylinder (4756mca for a 54Ford F100) were the old one went on the frame, which is supposed to fit in the same place, and the ROD from the Master Cylinder sits about 1 inch farther away from the frame, so it does not line up with my brake pedal connection? Do I need to change the pedal? I thought this was a straight accross swap?
