Default 66 chevy c10 front spindles

I've recently purchased 2 1\2 drop spindles for a 66 C10. It has a disc brake front end on it, from what I'm not sure. That’s what brings me here. Are the original ball joins on a 66 C10 small than the ball joints on a 71 or later C10? When I went to install the RH spindle it slid right on the ball joints, then I found that the tie rod end was to big and wouldn't fit on the spindle. So does anyone have an answer to this problem?

Yes, the later years use larger ball joints and different tie tods. The stock control arms will accept the 71-87 ball joints.

If faced with opposite--tie rod too SMALL for control arm("spindle"): believe it or not, some have found that use of bigger control arms with smaller tie rods can be accomplished by using sheet metal from a discarded 'body'. Cut a strip in the shape of a trapezoid & 'roll' it to fit inside the arm-eye; it's just the correct thickness to make the tie rod fit snugly. Sound flimsy? The 'end-surface' doesn't turn inside the 'arm-eye'; turning is done by the knuckle inside the tie rod. HTH; & don't hold me liable!
