    Default Brake fluid overheating

    I have a '70 Buick GS with Baer Pro+ system on front and CPP Hydroboost. I took it to a road course in Texas and the Amsoil power steering fluid spewed out of the stock reservior slightly. It probably needs a PS cooler. What type is best and where is it plumbed in? Please say in the fluid return line because it's just rubber but the other two lines are teflon lined SS as you know.     You can install a transmission cooler of any type / size / style that he may wish to choose with a 3/8 inlet & outlet. This cooler is to be plumbed in the (rubber) low pressure return line coming out of the steering gear.

    Steering gear low pressure return to trans cooler, trans cooler back “home” to the PS reservoir.

    Note: If you are (very likely) using the T fitting arrangement to handle the low pressure return from the brake assist unit (as opposed to having grafted in a second dedicated low pressure return line nipple into the PS pump housing), the cooler must be plumbed between the steering gear and the T fitting. Spoken the other way around for the sake of clarity, do not plumb the trans cooler between the installed location of the T fitting and the PS pump reservoir.

    Earls Performance products has a good line of coolers of various sizes with AN fittings. These are race and off road proven products. Summit and Jegs carries them. Earls makes some rugged mounts for them too.

    A lot of aftermarket PS pumps have pressure output way in excess of the factory units which can cause excessive back pressure in the brake assist unit's low pressure return circuit which can lead to PS system overheating.
